DSB Internet Marketing, based in sunny San Diego, offers straight forward, no-nonsense Internet Marketing services to small and medium sized business.  I have served many happy clients and helped them achieve their web marketing goals.

More and more companies understand the importance of optimization and internet marketing.  My approach is a more holistic one that includes not only optimization, pay per click (PPC) and other on-page and off-page factors, but also incorporates the design and layout of your website.  My goal is to help you make your website the best it can be, both for site visitors and the search engines.

Just what is optimization?  Basically, website optimization is applying a set of principles to the on-page and off-page elements of a site.  Specifically, optimization is the process of designing, writing and coding (in HTML) web pages to increase the probability that your web pages will appear at the top of search engine queries for selected keywords and phrases.  I also believe optimization includes designing web pages that reflect the needs of the web users and leads them through to desired outcomes.

Website optimization begins by identifying the marketing objectives of the client.  The next step is keyword and market research based on the client's industry and market.  Diligence at this level will pay off in the end.  I try to uncover every possible permutation of the keywords relative to your industry.   This research determines almost all the on-page attributes that will go into the optimization, including title tags, meta tags and the all-important page copy - the written words on your pages.  This is the heart of optimization and when done well, leads to higher rankings, greater internet saturation and, ultimitely, success.

It is my belief that web design is also a critical component to a well-optimized site.  The layout and navigation of your site must work for your target audience or all the visitors in the world will not improve your bottom line.  A well designed website compells the user, interacts with the user and leads them through the site to desired outcomes.

There are also very important off-page elements to website optimization, the most important of which is link popularity.  I believe that first you must create a website that is link-worthy.  Many website owners are never told that, in the long term, a well-designed, informative and regularly updated site will develop link popularity all by itself.  It is also worth understanding how to develop logical reciprocal links that will improve your rankings and be helpful to your site visitors.

Website submission:
The value of submitting websites to search engines and directories has changed recently.  In fact, it changes quite often.  The importance of some search engines and directories rise and fall; new ones come on the scene.  One year, submission is free; another, it's paid.  There are free directories and paid ones.  The bottom line is that website submission in an important final step.  But, some of the specifics need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  In general, we submit to Google, Yahoo, and MSN and will look into submitting to a variety of directories depending on your industry.

There is a darker side to optimization and some SEO professionals will employ all kinds of techniques, usually considered spamming, to achieve high rankings.  It is not our practice to employ spamming techniques, which include link farms, keyword stuffing, hidden text, doorway pages, tiny text, redirects, etc.  The list goes on and on.  I will work within the rules and put our focus on satisfying your customers and hopefully your botttom line too.
